Note: Josephus Perrin, Jr. is mistakenly given credit for his father's military service in some family records.
After the defeat of General Harmar at the Battle of Chillicothe Josephus aided in raising a company of volunteers and was given the rank of 1st Lieutenant and marched with his company to aid in Gen. St Clair's Ohio campaigns. There is no record of Josephus being among the survivros of the disasterous battles of St. Clair's defeat at the battle of Wabash, the Battle of the Wabash River and the Battle of the Thousand Slain, but it is clear that he actively served Gen. St. Clair in the Ohio campaigns. It was some years after Josephus had aided in the 1791 Indian campaign that he relocated his wife and large family of children to Cynthiana, Ky in Harrison County in 1799. Josephus later became known as General Josephus Perrin while organizing his own local militia (The Cynthiana Home Guard) serving as a farmer feeding his own local community and a soldier (a militia which would later fight against Morgan's Raiders in Cynthiana, Ky in Harrison County during the Civil War) His son Josephus, Jr. became a prominent Doctor and Senator in Kentucky.
Senator Josephus Perrin, Jr. Served in the Ky. Senate from 1814-1822 then again in 1825 not including his lower House service. In his 1814 election he defeated, both, George Pickett and Joseph Boyd and in his 1818 election he defeated Peter Barrett. Senator Josephus Perrin, Jr. is mistaken for General Josephus Perrin, Sr. in many family records and in many biographical writtings about him.
