Another problem you will be facing while doing your research is inaccuracies in other records and the solution is quite easy, simply ignore those records and look to the recurring records.  I found several inaccurate records concerning William C. Perrin and I could only chalk it up to laziness on behalf of the researcher in the sloppy records that I was looking at during those times.  This is where your subject's spouse plays a very important role in your research.  Had in not been for Cassandra ( William's Mother ) I may have been completely lost in my own research.
